Lens is gone

Microsoft Lens shut down — and OneDrive won’t even save scans to your phone.

When Microsoft retired Lens in early 2026, it pushed everyone to the OneDrive scanner, which saves to the cloud and dropped one-tap export to Word, PowerPoint and OneNote. Scanhaven brings both back: scans stay on your device, and you can export them as editable Office files or PDF.

The three things the “free” scanners get wrong

Privacy isn’t the only gap. These are the specific things people actually leave their current scanner for.

Saved on your phone

OneDrive and Google Drive push every scan to the cloud. Scanhaven saves locally by default — your tax forms and IDs stay with you.

Editable Word, PPT & Excel

Not just a flat PDF. Export a scan straight into an editable Office file — the one-tap export Lens users lost and CamScanner locks behind a subscription.

Runs on budget phones

Google’s best new scanner needs an 8GB-RAM phone. Scanhaven is lightweight and runs great on everyday 4–6GB devices.

A full scanner, minus the ads and the subscription

Everything you need to turn paper into clean, usable files — free, with the power features unlocked once for a one-time price.

Automatic edge detection

Smart capture finds the page, fixes perspective and removes shadows for a clean scan on the first try.

Export to Word, PowerPoint & Excel

Turn a scan into an editable Office document, table, or slide — not just a locked PDF.

On-device OCR

Make scans searchable and copyable in seconds — processed locally, never uploaded.

Multi-page PDF

Combine dozens of pages into one tidy PDF. Reorder, rotate and delete pages with a tap.

No ads, no account

No banners, no pop-up ads, no sign-up. Just a clean tool that respects your time.

Works fully offline

Scan, OCR and export with no connection — nothing depends on a server.

Microsoft Lens was retired by Microsoft in early 2026; Google’s redesigned Drive/Files scanner requires a device with 8GB RAM or more. Frequently asked questions

Is Scanhaven free?

Yes. Scanning, on-device OCR, saving to your phone, and exporting to PDF are free with no ads. An optional one-time unlock adds editable Word, PowerPoint and Excel export, batch scanning, and unlimited OCR — and you can try a Word export once for free. There is no subscription.

Can I export scans to Word, PowerPoint, or Excel?

Yes. Scanhaven can turn a scan into an editable Word, PowerPoint, or Excel file, not just a flat PDF. This is the feature Microsoft Lens users lost when Lens was replaced by the OneDrive scanner.

Are my scans saved on my phone or in the cloud?

On your phone, by default. Scanning, OCR and file creation happen on-device, and your documents are never uploaded to a server. There is no account to create.

Is Scanhaven a good Microsoft Lens replacement?

Yes. Microsoft retired Microsoft Lens in early 2026 and points users to the OneDrive scanner, which saves to the cloud and dropped one-tap Office export. Scanhaven keeps scans local and exports to editable Word, PowerPoint, Excel and PDF.

Will it run on my older or budget phone?

Yes. Scanhaven is lightweight and runs on typical 4–6GB phones. Google’s newest built-in Drive scanner requires a phone with 8GB of RAM or more, which leaves many budget and older devices out — Scanhaven does not.

Does Scanhaven work offline and without an account?

Yes. All processing is on-device, so it works fully offline, and you never need to sign in. PDF export and OCR work with no internet connection.

What permissions does Scanhaven need?

None. Scanhaven declares no system permissions at all — not even camera or storage. Scanning is handled by the secure Google Play services scanner; gallery import uses the system photo picker. It does not declare the INTERNET permission, so it cannot upload anything. The Play Data Safety section declares that no data is collected.

Keep your scans. Keep your privacy.
